    Substance: Sibutramine Hydrochloride

    Country: Germany

    Form: 15mg/tab

    Amount: 98 tabs

Recommended Dosage: 1 tab per day

Description: In 1997, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Sibutramine Hydrochloride, also known as Meridia, for the management of obesity, a widespread, chronic disease that contributes to the deaths of an estimated 300,000 Americans each year. Made by Abbott Laboratories, Meridia helps reduce food intake and is prescribed for weight loss and weight indextenance when used in conjunction with a reduced calorie diet.

Meridia is indicated for people whose initial body mass index (BMI) is at least 30. However, patients with other risk factors, such as hypertension or diabetes, can be treated with the drug if their BMI is 27 or higher. Meridia works to suppress the appetite primarily by inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin.
